About
About Me
Thank you for your interest in my photography. I’m an on-location natural light photographer, specializing in newborns and kids, located in the Omaha, Nebraska metro area.
I am long-time hobbyist of all things creative. Shortly after picking up my first slr camera I became hooked, and am taking this hobby to a new level. As I grow my portfolio, please check back often to browse through the images on this blog and my website for examples. I primarily use natural light and outdoor environments for fresh and fun images.
I enjoy photographing kids in a relaxed setting, where they can have fun and let their true personalities emerge. I try to capture those authentic, pure expressions that you want to remember forever.
About Your Session
I shoot in natural light, and prefer to shoot during mid-morning or in the early evening to get the nicest light. Locations can be in your own backyard, in a park, or an urban location, depending on what setting you like best. Sessions last about 1-2 hours, where we’ll just hang out, play, and let the photos happen naturally.
During Your Session
Sessions are generally 1-2 hours long (newborns can be longer). Plenty of time for snack breaks and clothing changes, no need to feel rushed. Some children are all smiles and love the camera but many take a little while to warm up.
Following Your Session
After your session, I will upload your custom edited proofs to a password-protected online gallery, which you are welcome to share with family and friends. Your gallery will be available for two weeks. Additional time may be purchased for $20 per 7 days of hosting. Orders may be placed using the online shopping cart or by contacting me directly. Once your order is placed, it will take about two weeks for prints to be delivered, and 3-4 weeks for specialty items such as albums or canvas.
What To Bring
Please bring any special items that you would like included. It might be a favorite teddy bear or truck, and while you may not want it in every image, it’s fun to capture the memory of that treasured toy. Hats, umbrellas, rain boots, tutus, even those princess pjs she insists on wearing every night can be fun. If your session is away from your home, make sure to bring snacks and something to drink for the little ones.
What to Wear
I recommend casual outfits with no big words logos. Colorful items can really make a photo pop, and adding layers can give you several different looks from a single session. For siblings or family photos I strongly recommend coordinating, but not matching clothing. If you are torn on what to wear, bring it all and I can help put something together for you at the session.
Rescheduling
If your child is sick, please call to reschedule. Outdoor sessions can also be rescheduled during severe weather.
Creative Ownership
It is important for me to communicate the ethical aspects of photography. I am sure you can appreciate the fact that your images are custom designed for you. A great deal of time, attention to detail, and thought goes into creating them. Per copyright law, the photographer retains the creative rights to all photos unless otherwise stated in writing. For this reason, unless written permission is provided by the photographer, it is illegal to reproduce these photos. Reproduction would include: scanning or taking screenshots of them, using them for cards and announcements, or commercially selling them for your own profit. Digital files are available for purchase and you may be provided with watermarked web-sized images for social networking sites, but please be respectful of the federal copyright ownership laws. You can find a copy of these laws and legal procedures online at www.copyright.gov.
